Description
alpha-001 wraps the foot in a form made by smocking: a single piece of fabric gathered and stitched to a rule. The folds that give it its shape become the pattern of the upper, and cast rich shadows.
The sole is a gyroid structure of continuous curved surfaces, generated from equations to follow the shape of the shoe and formed by 3D printing.
Gathering fabric, and deforming curved surfaces: forms born of two different methods answer each other in a sculptural silhouette, and the variation that arises within the rule shows a different face from every angle.
